Assessments are not required in order to participate in therapy. Children are referred for assessments if there are difficulties determining what diagnosis is causing their symptoms.

An assessment consists of at least 4 hours of appointments conducted over 1-4 weeks. These sessions include parent interviews, parent questionnaires, measures completed with child, and review of written report with parents. When appropriate, the child participates in interview and feedback sessions. Assessments can also involve teacher interview and questionnaires, classroom observation, and review of written report with school.
